Funding Fairs

Each year, Cumbria CVS co-ordinates Funding Fairs across the county providing Third Sector organisations with the opportunity to meet face to face with local, regional and national funders and support groups to discuss their projects, to attend funding training and to network with other organisations. The remaining 2009/10 Funding Fairs are as follows:

• Carlisle: Thursday 28th January 2010

Carlisle

This fair will take place on Thursday 28 January 2010 at the Racecourse at Carlisle. It has been designed and developed in partnership with both Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council. It promises to be an excellent event providing attendees with an fantastic opportunity to meet funders, attend presentations and workshops and increase their knowledge about fundraising.
The programme is available (below) along with funders profile and booking form. It is an exciting and varied programme with something for everyone – from presentations to workshops, all designed to provide local groups and organisations with much needed advice, support and information.

Barrow

The Barrow Funding Fair took place on Wednesday 29th April 2009 and was a great success. It attracted over 97 delegates from across the area and boasted the attendance of funders such as the Big Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, Lloyds TSB foundation, Cumbria Community Foundation, Northern Rock Foundation and many more.

West

The West Funding Fair took place on Thursday 11th June 2009 at the Sellafield Centre. It was a great event with presentations from the Big Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, coupled with the announcement of new funding available through Cumbria Community Foundation. In addition, there an excellent a discussion forum on community buildings, coupled with fundraising training.

Eden

The Eden fair took place on Thursday 8 October 2009 at Langwathby Village Hall. It provided groups with an excellent opportunity to meet with local, regional and national funders to discuss the funding of new (and continuing) projects and to take advantage of the information, advice and support available on the day. A few new funders attended this fair, making it more attractive for local groups.
A record 97 delegates attended this event enjoying presentations from Cumbria Community Foundation; Foundation: a Climate Fund for the NorthWest and Lloyds TSB Foundation and a variety of workshops.

South

This took place on Thursday 19 November 2009 at Brettargh Holt, nr Kendal. The event was shortened due to the severe weather conditions (floods and gale force winds) but a great day was recorded by those who did brave the conditions to attend (75 delegates).
Unfortunately the CVS workshops were cancelled but these are to be re-scheduled for January 2010. Further details will be sent to those booked on the event – watch this space too!
